Bangko Kabayan (BK) has proudly completed its fourth year participating in the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) X-Trash Challenge, a significant environmental initiative focused on responsible waste management and recycling. As its final entry for 2024, BK sent its segregated recyclables to BEST Pasay on September 17, with an initial batch dispatched to BEST Pasig last June 4.
This achievement reflects BK employees’ deep commitment to environmental stewardship, driven by a shared dedication to protecting the planet. The efforts were notably recognized earlier this year when the bank received the Special Award for the Most Number of Employees Engaged at PBSP’s SWM in Focus Session, held on March 25 at Hub Araneta City, Cyberpark 1, Quezon City. This honor highlights BK’s collective enthusiasm for waste segregation and recycling practices, reinforcing the bank's ongoing commitment to sustainability.
Bangko Kabayan began its journey with the PBSP X-Trash Challenge in 2021 and has since made substantial contributions each year, including 257.58 kilos of recyclable materials in 2021, 362.85 kilos in 2022, and 386.92 kilos in 2023. These donations were made possible through the dedicated efforts of BK employee volunteers who diligently collected and sorted paper, plastic, and metal waste.
The Joint 8S and X-Trash Challenge project originally ran from July to September 2023, with this year’s program extended from March 27 to September 20, 2024. Through ongoing participation in initiatives like the X-Trash Challenge, Bangko Kabayan not only demonstrates its commitment to environmental preservation but also sets a standard for corporate responsibility and collective action.
