In line with Bangko Kabayan’s celebration of its 65th Anniversary, all employees, the management team, the Board of Directors, and guests from Cebu and Iloilo gathered virtually last August 20, 2022, for the BK Annual General Assembly. It was hosted by the energetic Officer-in-charge of Batangas City Branch, Ms. Zyra Plata, together with her talented partner, Mr. Joselito Matulac.
The theme of the event is BK@65: Higher. Stronger. Faster. – three descriptive words that best describe BK today. BK is undeniably higher because, over the years, it surpassed the requirements of a rural institution and has eventually become a development bank. Faster, in terms of adaptability, to cope with fast-changing environments and trends. And finally, stronger, as BK is now a subsidiary of Unionbank of the Philippines, the 9th largest bank in the country in terms of assets.
The program started with a prayer of thanksgiving followed by back-to-back welcome remarks from the COO, Mr. Leandro B. Ofrecio, and the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Lorenzo T. Ocampo. All new employees are welcomed and recognized through a video presentation. The attendees also reminisced activities of the bank and the BK Foundation for the past years.
The highlight of this year’s assembly is the inspiring speech from the guest speaker, Mr. Henry R. Aguda, Chairman of the Board of City Savings Bank. In his short but meaningful and informative speech, HRA emphasized the purpose, importance, and role of everyone in the digital transformation process. He pointed out that adapting to digital transformation is not easy. It takes a lot of hard work, commitment, and practice to adapt to the fast-paced digital world. The session became more engaging with the Q&A portion, wherein several employees asked questions about the in-progress digital transformation of the bank.
The program continues with the presentation of the LMTP batch 12 graduates headed by their valedictorian, Ms. Ruth Timbal from the Audit Department. The celebration also became a platform to recognize the employees who have gained academic advances. The bank also acknowledged individuals who have remained loyal to Bangko Kabayan for the past 10, 15, and 20 years. Appreciation was also extended to those personnel who have gone the extra mile in serving its internal or external clients.
The program wrapped up with a heartwarming message from the president of Bangko Kabayan, Ms. Beatriz B. Romulo. She reiterated her pride and joy for being called a Kabayan for the past 2½ years. And how those years became challenging and exhilarating.
