Since 2021, Bangko Kabayan Inc. has been a devoted supporter of LASAC's MaLASACkit Bazaar, a fundraising initiative aimed at assisting the poor and marginalized sectors of society within the Archdiocese of Lipa, Batangas. Employees generously donate their pre-loved items to the bazaar, with proceeds going towards various charitable endeavors.
In 2024, the Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability (CSRS) Department led a donation drive for LASAC, based at the LAFORCE Building along J.P. Laurel Highway in Marawoy, Lipa City, Batangas.
The initiative addresses the issue of poverty, which often prevents parents from sending their children to school due to financial constraints, including tuition fees, school supplies,
transportation, and food allowances.
Employees and community donors contributed a wide range of items like books, educational materials, toys, gadgets, food storage containers, linen, and apparel. The initiative encourages employees to declutter their homes, share with others, and support those in need.
The CSRS department collected donated items and also sold them to employees. The proceeds were utilized to sponsor scholars and contribute to the Alay Kapwa fund. Unsold items were donated to LASAC's MaLASACkit Bazaar, where they could be sold or repurposed for various social services programs, such as:
- Ma-LASAC-kit Bazaar: For the implementation of social service programs.
- Ma-LASAC-kit Stitch: Providing livelihood opportunities for Taal Volcano eruption survivors.
- Ma-LASAC-kit Artisan: Recycling projects for skilled but unemployed individuals.
Scholars and their parents undergo values formation as part of this partnership for the child's welfare. The scholars range from elementary to Grade 10 junior high school students.
This ongoing project exemplifies the importance of donating, selling, and buying to sustain charitable initiatives. Bangko Kabayan Inc. has adopted one scholar for the current year and has contributed to the Alay Kapwa fund through the sale of pre-loved items.
