Bangko Kabayan Foundation Inc. (BKFI) took part in Action Against Hunger's Digital Challenge for Companies, established in collaboration with Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). Action Against Hunger is a global humanitarian organization that takes decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger. They save the lives of malnourished children. They ensure everyone can access clean water, food, training, and healthcare. They enable entire communities to be free from hunger, and they are ready to respond to an emergency within 24 to 72 hours.
The campaign was designed as a virtual team building and employee engagement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Every participant's movement was monitored through the "ContraElHambre," a mobile phone application, allowing each team member to track their daily kilometers, type of activity, and personal ranking within the squad.
The BKFI team comprises various personnel from the company’s head office and Batangas branches. The team was serious in hitting the original target of 2,000 kilometers from January 10 to February 7, 2022. The group effort paid off. Donating by kilometers was made possible when the BKFI team hit their target earlier than expected on January 30. Through teamwork, perseverance, and the spirit of charity, the 10-member bicycle team of BKFI was able to donate 2,583 kilometers in 4 weeks to fight hunger in the Philippines.
BKFI held an event to celebrate the group's achievement where some employees participated in the fun run and Zumba (via Zoom) session in Tinga Itaas, Batangas, last February 6, 2022. Each team member was personally congratulated by BKFI President Maria Teresa Ganzon and former BK President Atty. Francis Ganzon.
