15 micro and small entrepreneurs received their Certificate of Completion last August 11 for the 8thGrassrooots Entrepreneurship and Management Program Seminar (GEM) at Don Ramon Food Garden in Rosario, Batangas. The graduates were invited by four branches of Bangko Kabayan. Thirteen are from Ibaan, Rosario, San Juan and Tiaong branches. Two social entrepreneurs were from the Bamboo Lights Women’s organization in Padre Garcia. Business plans were drafted as part of the requirement for graduation. This will also be the basis for monitoring and accompaniment in the next quarters.
Most participants are in the food manufacturing business such as making polvoron, siomai, tamarind candy, ube jam, cucumber and papaya pickle relish, peanut butter, rice cake, bread and macapuno. Other enterprises include selling lomi, sari sari store, rice retailing, direct selling and hog raising.
Also known as Entrep Eskwela, GEM is conducted for four consecutive Fridays. Participants learn about Self Mastery, Situation Mastery, Enterprise Mastery and Financial Management. The modules were developed by Bayan Academy. These are conducted by Bangko Kabayan Volunteer Facilitators from the Micro Finance and Admin Department. Entrep Eskwela has been a regular offering of Bangko Kabayan since Bayan Academy accredited them in 2008.
BK Foundation seeks to increase the number of enrollees in the next batches as participants claim that this is a helpful tool to systematize their business operations. Please wait for further announcement early next year.
